Branden W. Joseph is Associate Professor of contemporary art in the Art History Department at UC, Irvine. He is the author of Random Order: Robert Rauschenberg and the Neo-Avant-Garde (MIT Press 2003) and of Anthony McCall: The Solid Light Films and Related Works (ed. Christopher Eamon, Northwestern University Press, 2005). His work has appeared in Artforum, Art Journal, October, Critical Inquiry, Texte zur Kunst, and Les Cahiers du Musée national d’art moderne. He is also a founding editor of Grey Room, a multi-disciplinary journal of architecture, art, media, and politics, published quarterly by the MIT Press since 2000. He is currently completing Beyond the Dream Syndicate, focusing on musician, filmmaker, and video artist Tony Conrad for Zone Books.
