Anne Wagner is Professor of Art History at the University of California at Berkeley. She has recently published a great deal on contemporary art, focusing particularly on sculpture and its avatars in earthworks, performance, and beyond. Her books include Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux: Sculptor of the Second Empire (Yale University Press, 1986), Three Artists (Three Women) (University of California Press, 1996), and Brave New Womb: Modernist Maternity and British Sculpture (Yale University Press, 2005).
